Atlantic Magazine's The End of Men?

Earlier this year, women became the majority of the workforce for the first time in U.S. history. Most managers are now women too. And for every two men who get a college degree this year, three women will do the same. For years, women’s progress has been cast as a struggle for equality. But what if equality isn’t the end point? What if modern, postindustrial society is simply better suited to women? A report on the unprecedented role reversal now under way— and its vast cultural consequences

Girl Power= Women Entrepreneurs Mean Business!

I attended an event at NYU on Saturday supporting the data and research that women are poised to be the power of our new economy. Cindy Padnos, the founder of Illuminate Ventures spoke about this:

  • Women-led tech companies have grown dramatically over the last number of years..
  • They have done so with less capital than their male counterparts and the results show greater performance..
  • Women are now equally or better educated- in all degrees including graduate levels that historically were male dominated- Math and Engineering...
  • Gender diversity at Officer levels improves financial results and leads to more creative problem solving..
  • There is a large and growing gap-one that I hope to help shrink- between the large pool of experienced and venture-ready women entrepreneurs and the funding to these women led tech companies...

This terrific and exciting talk proves that the growth of our new economy will be fueled by women entrepreneurs- assuming that the media and financing idustry supports this trend. The trend is analogous to what has happened with Indian led tech companies. They are now (30 years later) recognized by their success.

I intend to be a part of this large and swelling wave!
